That day finally comes
The one day you know you’ll possibly lose the person closest to you.
It all comes down to those final seconds.

The moment the doctor comes in and asks, “Are you ready?”
All the percentages of something bad happening
Increases in your mind.

The seconds come quicker than a freight train.
And the next thing you know,
You’re knocked out.

Hours later in a hospital bed
Surrounded by family and friends.
You look down and there they are:

Stitches.
Everyone hopes you’re safe and sound
And pray for a great recovery.

I love you mom,
I hope your surgery goes well.

Love,

Samantha

My father went through open heart surgery when I was in 7th grade. It was a very scary experience, but everything turned out fantastic.
